FAQ

Natomas FA to Natomas Rush FC

Purpose: Natomas FA is moving toward an affiliation with Rush Soccer through a phased transition designed to minimize disruption for players and families while increasing opportunities and support.

Quick Glance

What’s changing (and when)

  • Spring 2026: “Future Rush” messaging begins; Rush website preview becomes viewable (NFA stays primary)
  • Fall 2026 / Spring 2027: Rush becomes the dominant public brand; coaches move to Rush apparel
  • Fall 2027 / Spring 2028: Rush uniforms begin; systems + branding conversion completed

What’s not changing right away

  • Uniforms remain Natomas FA through Spring 2027 (a few exceptions possible)
  • Registration/team software remains Demosphere/Otto during Spring transition
  • Day-to-day focus stays the same: player development, great coaching, and a strong club experience

Who / what is Rush Soccer?

Rush Soccer is a national soccer organization with a network of clubs that share coaching education resources, development methodology, and broader opportunities for players and families. From the Rush Soccer website (rushsoccer.com):

“Rush Soccer gives players, parents, and coaches a community they can count on.”

Why are we affiliating with Rush Soccer?

We believe Rush helps the club accelerate what we’re building by adding support and structure we can’t easily create alone:

  • More pathways + opportunities for players (including access to broader platforms, guidance, and exposure pathways)
    (rushsoccer.com/development-philosophy)
  • More structured coaching education for our staff through shared methodology and resources
    (rushsoccer.com/rush-way-of-coaching)
  • National recognition + a support network that helps member clubs raise standards and match player ambitions
  • Programs and services that would be difficult for us to build independently
    (rushsoccer.com/programs-and-services-gateway)

When will the affiliation take place?

We are planning a three-phase transition:

Spring 2026 (Soft Launch / Co-Brand)

  • Uniforms: Natomas FA
  • Coaches apparel: Natomas FA-issued (optional access to acquire Rush gear)
  • Advertising*: “Future Rush” / transition language
  • Website: Natomas FA site stays primary; Rush site preview becomes publicly viewable
  • Registration / team software: Demosphere (no change)

Fall 2026 / Spring 2027 (Brand Dominance Shift)

  • Uniforms: Natomas FA
  • Coaches apparel: Rush
  • Advertising*: Rush-only
  • Team names: Rush-changeover
  • Website: Rush version becomes fully live/primary
  • Registration / team software: Demosphere remains; conversion to Rush-aligned configuration begins

Fall 2027 / Spring 2028 (Full Conversion)

  • Uniforms: Rush uniforms begin
  • Branding: Rush everywhere
  • Systems: conversion complete (website + registration workflows aligned)

What will fees look like when we become Natomas Rush FC?

Our mission is to earn NPL club status within NorCal Premier, and we won’t stop until we accomplish it.

As we move toward (and eventually achieve) NPL status, overhead can increase due to:

  • Higher league/team registration costs
  • Host expectations and matchday operations
  • Additional competition opportunities (and potential travel)

Our commitment: When we publish a fee structure, what families receive for that fee will be clearly outlined and transparent. The club is a non-profit - fees are intended to cover club costs and deliver value, not generate profit.

Why do we want to be an NPL club?

NPL isn’t for every player, but it provides a strong option for players seeking a higher competitive pathway:

  • Gives Natomas players a “badge” platform locally, reducing the need to leave the community to find it
  • Provides a more consistent competitive environment aligned with ambitious player goals
  • Offers a clearer pathway to events and environments where college recruiting is more common
  • Helps position the club for potential future platforms once we prove our standards and readiness

Important note: NPL affiliation is not guaranteed. It is a highly ambitious venture that the club is determined to pursue and see through to accomplishment.

Are we looking to become a “big club”?

Our goal is to be as big as we need to be to serve the Natomas community with high-quality developmental and competitive soccer – the best way we can. Natomas has a strong base of soccer talent and a high level of player enthusiasm. We want to make sure that enthusiasm is met with a product worthy of our players: strong coaching, a clear pathway, and opportunities that keep families local.

What does “right-sized” growth look like?

Our long-term goal is to become a club with two teams at each 11v11 age group (U13–U19) for each gender. That’s ambitious and will take time, but it’s a strong benchmark because it supports:

  • healthier roster sizes
  • competitive balance across levels
  • better training environments
  • more stable year-to-year continuity

At the younger ages, “right-sized” growth may look different. We may need to expand more at 7v7 and 9v9 to accommodate the natural transition as players move from 7v7 to 9v9 to 11v11, and as interest grows.

Most importantly, we’re not just building a bigger club - we’re building the right fit for each player. That means having clear, appropriate pathways across multiple levels:

  • Developmental / Grassroots (learning + love of the game)
  • Lower-level competitive (growth, confidence, game understanding)
  • Higher-level competitive (ambition, performance, exposure)

Through the Rush Development Pyramid, players have a pathway where their potential - and their goals - can guide how far they go, whether that’s simply enjoying the game at the right level or pursuing the highest level they can (and want to) reach.
